Heaven’s Quilts creates custom order quilts and provides custom machine quilting services.

Custom Quilts

Heaven’s Quilts offers custom order quilts.

Step 1: Purchase (or bring) a Quilt Pattern
Step 2: Determine size, threads, fabrics, and styles wanted with Rita's help.
Step 3: Agree to an estimate & quilting begins!

Based on the following guidelines, a price quote with details regarding fabric requirements, pattern and any special requests will be provided before the project is started:

Patterns - Quilts may be made from any available pattern. A individual pattern or pattern published in a book must be purchased with each custom made quilt. Patterns vary in price ranging from about $9 to $25. Book prices typically range from $20 to $30. The price of the pattern or book will be added to the cost of the quilt.

Any customer may provide his or her own pattern for use in making a quilt!

Quilt Materials and Pricing - The cost for fabrics and materials, including threads and batting, depends on the quilt pattern and the desired quilt size. Pricing includes all labor for piecing the quilt top, machine quilting, and binding. The total cost depends on the complexity of the pattern.

Custom Machine Quilting

Heaven’s Quilts specializes in quality work which transforms a quilt top into a family heirloom. In addition to the stitching and binding costs described below, additional costs include thread (e.g., $8 to $36 for each spool of thread) and batting (e.g., $10.00 to 12.00 for regular batting).

Quilting - Choices include:

Pantographs are continuous moderately spaced patterns sewn edge to edge in rows covering the entire quilt. Designs are available in a variety of patterns. Cost is $0.020 to $0.05 per square inch – pricing depends on the intricacy of the pattern chosen with a minimum cost of $50.

Stipple or Meander Quilting is small to large freehand stitching over the entire quilt surface. Cost is $0.030 to $0.045 per square inch – pricing depends of the size of the stipple with a minimum cost of $50.

Custom Quilting includes any stenciled or marked designs in blocks, sashings, and borders, including echoing, feathers, stippling, outlining, stitch-in-the-ditch, and grid work. Stencils must purchased by the customer (stencils range in price from $5 to $20). Cost is $0.040 to $0.050 per square inch with a minimum cost of $75.

QUILT TOPS can be finished for you! Bring your own design or antique quilt tops and turn them into heirloom treasures!

Binding - Costs depend on type, for example:

Machine partial binding - Binding includes trimming the quilt, preparing binding and stitching the binding to the quilt front. This binding makes your quilt edge ready for you to turn the binding to the back and hand stitch down. Cost is $0.15 per inch.
Full machine binding - Binding includes trimming the quilt, preparing binding and stitching to the quilt front. This binding is also turned to the back and stitched down with a machine stitch from the back. Cost is $0.35 per inch.

Project Preparation - Prior to initiating the project, the customer can prepare the quilt top and backing on their own or request that these services be included in the project price.

To prepare a quilt top and backing on your own:

Trim all threads on quilt top and press.
Backing needs to be at least 4 inches wider than the quilt top on each side.
If backing is pieced, remove fabric selvages before stitching ½ inch seam allowance and pressing open.
Be sure your quilt is clean and pressed (no dog hair please!).

Additional charges will apply if quilt is not prepared as above.

These same preparation activities can be provided at the following costs:

Trimming threads and pressing - $20 per hour
Cutting, piecing or attaching borders - $20 per hour
Piecing backing - $20 per hour

Contract Requirements for all Services

A signed agreement and 50% deposit are required before the project is started. Once project supplies are purchased, no refunds will be made. The custom quilt will not be delivered until final payment is received. If the final payment is not received within 3 months of project completion, Heaven’s Quilts has the right to sell custom quilt with no refund to the customer for supplies. Heaven’s Quilts reserves the right to make design choices regarding the project.
